CONCERT AT BLISLAND VILLAGE HALL

HELLAND CHURCH INVITES YOU TO A CONCERT AT BLISLAND VILLAGE HALL

Saturday June 15th at 7.30pm
Following the outstanding success of the Flanders & Swann concert in St Breward Church two years ago, Mike Bernstein and Colin Stevens are returning to raise funds for Helland Church, accompanied by an entertaining concert party of talented friends.
Potential audience numbers have exceeded the seating capacity in Helland Church and, as this is a major fund raising event, we are hiring Blisland Village Hall.
We are very grateful to Mike and Colin (Aka Flanders & Swann) and their friends and look forward to their professional accomplished programme.
Wine and soft drinks available. For information and tickets contact Jenny or Denis Tel: 01208 75691. Early booking is advisable.

Easter 2013 Spring Growth at St Mabyn Church

Our wonderful Easter Day service was attended by a record number of people—16 children and 59 adults.
Another record was the number of people of 27 who attended the Church AGM held on 7/4 at 11am
This meeting emphasised the team work which has resulted in the growth of our village church, under the leadership of Canon Dave Elkington, who is well supported by Rev Dave Pollard, Rev Jonathan Mosedale with his work in the school and Peter Coster.
As Dave is keen to stress the long term growth and sustainability of our Church depends upon the commitment of a wide variety of people across the village.
The AGM provided an opportunity for a wide discussion about the future and many ideas were exchanged about forms of worship. To manage future growth a strong team has been appointed to the PCC, which combines experience and creativity. Sadly John Lobb has decided that it is time to retire from the PCC and his tremendous service will be honoured at a special event in the near future.
In 2013 it is hoped that the Church will reach out to even more residents of all ages. Any one is always welcome to visit the church for quiet reflection – as it is open every day or to play a part in the weekly worship life of St Mabena.
Already many folk are involved in a wide variety of ways ---singing worship songs, playing music, reading the Bible, leading prayers, bell ringing, organising services, fund raising, cleaning, caring for others in need .
Future plans include encouraging more St Mabyn people to play a part in our services; extend our Home groups for study and discussion; introduce mid week Messy Church for parents and children at St Mabyn School.

ST MABYN PLAYERS – BINGO NIGHT OUT!

THE ST MABYN PLAYERS – BINGO NIGHT OUT!

The St Mabyn Players are planning their third very popular ‘Bingo Night Out’ with cash prizes on Friday 19th April in St Mabyn Village Hall.
Doors open at 7pm and ‘Eyes Down’ at 7.30pm. £4 entry will include nibbles plus tea/coffee, and everyone over 18 years old is welcome to bring their own alcohol. The value of the cash prizes cannot be guaranteed in advance and depends on the amount raised from the sale of
Bingo cards on the night. However, on previous occasions, the happy winners of the Flyer went home with a bumper prize of £50, and 30 other cash prizes were won during the evening.

The Players’ Bingo nights are a lot of fun with good cash prizes, and always attract a great deal of support. As usual, tables for eight may be booked in advance and early booking is recommended. To book a place please call Audrey telephone no 01208 841607 (audreycooke@live.com) or call at Gleneagles, Station Road, St Mabyn.

Proceeds from the evening will help purchase essential equipment for the Players’ next Show which will take place in St Mabyn Village Hall in December.
