St Mabyn School News

No sooner does the summer term start than children from years 3 to 6 are off, for their residential camp, to the River Dart Country Park at Ashburton. There they will embark on three days of team building activities: high and low ropes, raft building and bush craft. Following camp the RNLI will visit to the school to talk about beach safety. This is very important because children need to know about how to enjoy their visit to the beach, how to stay safe and what to do when help is needed. The children will able to take part in several scenario situations under the guidance of the visiting lifeguards. Later in the term children will also have an opportunity take part in surfing at Polzeath Beach.
St Mabyn School is still celebrating their good Ofsted report, with outstanding personal development and welfare, and outstanding provision for pre-school, and has an exciting term ahead. The learning focus for the summer term is ‘Cornwall’ with an emphasis on Cornish large houses and homes; Cornish Industries and Cornish Art and artists. This local study will involve learning about the village of St Mabyn both past and present.
